‘Concrete is where the mountain lives’
High up in the mountains of the Swiss Alps, there’s concrete slicing through the rocks. Perfection of geometry hitting the jagged rockface. A desolate landscape dotted with dams, tunnels and hydro-electric plants, blocking and channelling the water, in an attempt to control and harness its power coming from the mountains. The brutal structures are alien to the landscape, almost in an ‘out of this world way’ and yet they are very human. They tell of men’s interest and ambition of shaping the natural world around him, and being this solid, massive and strong as they are, they will be a testament to this for centuries, long after they have lost their purpose.
